Neem Karoli Baba would often say, "Sub Ek," meaning "All One." He would speak about Christ with great love and would pray in Mosques. I have gained much from many of the world's religions, and so it felt natural to pay homage to two of the great spiritual traditions that have affected my path greatly- Christianity and Sufism.

This song was something I starting fooling around with about 7 years ago while I was living with Ram Dass on Maui. It started out as a Shiva chant, but over time naturally grew to incorporate my other loves. The first additions were "Amen" and "Hallelujah," which felt so natural in this song. The opening line, "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim" is a line from the Quran. It means, "In the name of God, most Gracious, most Compassionate." This is a chant that I fell in love with during my time in Sufi Zikrs, and it is often what comes to mind when I contemplate the great tradition of Islam.

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim
Om Namah Shivaya
You can call It by any name you want
You can call Him by any name you want
You can call Her by any name you want
Praise the Lord!
